Christian Singer-Songwriter, PJ Anderson, is releasing his fifth album today, Mercy, Mercy, after successfully running a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign that allowed him to record 15 tracks! PJ clearly has a great community of fans who love his music and want to keep hearing more. PJ was gracious enough to share with me some of the ways he was able to raise enough funds to produce his latest music.
PJ Anderson’s Kickstarter Crowdfunding Plan
- Personal Posts – posting a mix of photos, videos and text to engage listeners. Honestly, not worrying about videos being perfected, just being personal and engaging.
- Interesting/Exciting Rewards – providing rewards that pique interest like bags of my favorite coffee or dinner with my wife and I in Nashville.
- Professional Video – spent time on great video with a videographer.
- Contests – the first 10 people to pledge get an extra reward. Or if you pledge today, you’re placed in a drawing to win a bigger reward.
Crowdfunding has been a great way for independent musicians to be able to create and release quality music for their fans, and now with a recent change in law, crowdfunding will continue to be an avenue that will be utilized for many other innovative and creative entrepreneurial projects, as well.
Mercy, Mercy Album Review
I was able to listen to all of PJ Anderson’s 15 songs on Mercy, Mercy this past week. The album in it’s entirety was a great reminder of who I am and whose I am. Many songs inspired me to want to take action for whatever God is calling me to, while others assured me that resting in God’s powerful presence is all that is needed. Even though I may feel ill-equipped or inadequate to fulfill what Jesus asks of me, PJ constantly reminds me that mercy is always available true to the album’s title.
In our weakness and our shame, you make us whole. Your name is Mercy, Mercy, Mercy.” -PJ Anderson, “Your Name Is Mercy”
And I have to be sure to give props to the soulful guitar solo in that song. One of my favorite parts of the album.
Overall, while listening, I often came back to the word “unity.” PJ’s music creates a sense of community on this journey as we seek the Lord and ask forgiveness when we fail. He also reminds the listener that joy, peace, and love is what makes this life beautiful.
Thanks for sharing your gift of music, PJ, to spread this simple, yet important message. And thank you for being Bold Red Creative’s first “Be Bold Red” featured artist!

I also have to give a shout-out to PJ’s wife, Rachel. She designed all of the artwork and photos on his album. What a creative couple!
